Welcome to 810:053, Intermediate Computing
This site is for students in Dr. Schafer's Intermediate Computing course. It is a place for students to collaborate in building a knowledge base of material helpful for the course. This material should hopefully include a list of vocabulary words, a style guide for programs submitted in the course, summaries of in-class activities, a list of frequently observed programming mistakes, and anything else that seems appropriate at the semester goes along.
Why should I participate?
- Well, the simple answer is that a portion of your grade in the class is based on participation and one of the ways you can earn participation points is by helping to edit and maintain this wiki.
- But the other reason you should participate is that this wiki has the potential for being a study resource for students in this class. The more content that students add to the wiki, and the more time that students take refining that content to include meaningful and thoughtful descriptions of the material in this course, the more helpful this wiki will be as a study guide.
Are you new to the idea of a wiki?
Then there are some things you need to know:
- To edit a page, go to the page and click the Edit button. You can change everything in the main area of your page. The Wikidot language is easy to learn but powerful.
- This Wikidot site has two menus, one at the side called 'nav:side', and one at the top called 'nav:top'. These are Wikidot pages, and you can edit them like any page.
- You can attach images and other files to any page, then display them and link to them in the page.
- Every Wikidot page has a history of edits, and you can undo anything. So feel secure, and experiment.
- If it would be helpful for me to add something like a forum on this site, let me know [note to self, see the Site Manager » Forum.]
- If you want to learn more, make sure you visit the Documentation section at www.wikidot.com
